Gymnasium

In keeping with the old adage that a healthy body leads to a health mind, the Happy Home and School for the Blind opened a brand new gymnasium in 2003. Expensive and specially-designed equipment was installed to train the boys in activities such as judo, rope mallkhamb, wall climbing, acrobatics and gymnastics, further enhancing our theme of vision beyond sight.

Physical Training (PT) plays a vital part in the school curriculum as boys are taught to become independent and confident in their surroundings by relying on their other senses.

Training on the mallkhamb (climbing ropes) helps them to develop a sense of courage and fearlessness, as they hang from ropes by their toes and appear to almost "fly" through the air. Yoga is also seen as important and enables the boys to increase their mobility, flexibility and confidence apart from other well known health benefits.
